Why AFS

What Sets Alberta Film School Apart in Edmonton

Edmonton has NAIT, MacEwan, and the U of A — but none of them are dedicated to photo and video the way we are. Here's why AFS is different.

100% Photo + Video Focused

We're not a university with a film department. Photo and video is ALL we do. Every resource, every instructor, every hour is dedicated to making you a better creative.

Max 16 Students Per Class

Your instructor knows your name, your work, and your goals. You get real, personalized feedback — not generic advice for a lecture hall.

Real Portfolio, Real Clients

You don't just learn theory — you shoot for real clients through our field placement system. Graduate with work you can show, not just a piece of paper.

Hands-On From Day One

Less talking, more shooting. You'll have a camera in your hands from the first day. Our philosophy is simple: the best way to learn is to do.
